My Work (Production Designer) :

This was my graduation film. It was a bit different from the usual short films. Just me and Saffron were the team. Saffron shared her spoken word poem, and we had to turn it into a film. At first, we had ideas like painting the actors, but that didn't work out. Then, I thought of using projection and masking, but it was tougher than expected. So, we tried different things.

I mainly worked on the visuals and made a video to project onto the actors during filming. The actual shoot went well for the set design, but the months leading up to it were tough. We were too excited and tried different things without realising how hard and time-consuming it would be. Still, I learned a lot and picked up new skills.

For phrases where we couldn't use other mediums like photography, I learned how to animate and illustrate. Thankfully, I started early, working every day as a full-time artist for a couple of months to finish the pieces. It brought back memories of my childhood love for drawing and painting, which I had given up on. Despite animation being a tough challenge for me, I won't attempt it again. I also handled budgeting and logistics for production design alongside the creative side.
