Driving Against Stereotypes, Unveiling the Road Less Traveled by Women.
In "Day Sleeper," my aim as the director is to dive deep into the captivating story of a woman navigating the hurdles in a mostly male-dominated field—the realm of truck driving. This documentary gives viewers an up-close look at the protagonist's everyday life, putting them right in the passenger seat as she tackles highways, completes cargo deliveries, and interacts with fellow drivers on the road.
As the story unfolds, the documentary shines a light on the contrast of the female truck driver's journey—balancing the sacrifices of long hours away from home and the resilience needed to tackle harsh weather conditions with the satisfaction of successfully delivering goods to their destinations. "Day Sleeper" delves beneath the surface, peeling back the layers of this profession to reveal the true value and obstacles faced by women in the transportation industry.
In essence, this film is a heartfelt exploration of the varied lives of female truck drivers, challenging stereotypes and preconceptions associated with their role. Through "Day Sleeper," my goal is to highlight the importance of women in the transportation sector, offering a nuanced perspective that not only acknowledges the challenges but also celebrates the invaluable contributions they make to an industry often clouded by gender biases.
