My Work (Production Designer): 

If I may be entirely honest, my primary focus throughout this project leaned more towards directing rather than production design. Initially, we were fortunate to secure an apartment from a friend that perfectly suited our story, requiring minimal production design adjustments. Consequently, my attention shifted towards sourcing props and refining costumes. Fortunately, costume design posed minimal challenges given our clear understanding of the character's portrayal.

The principal challenge arose in acquiring the necessary paintings for the narrative. Over the course of several months, I actively sought out artists to feature their work in our film, aiming to support emerging talents and provide them with exposure. Regrettably, many expressed interest initially but withdrew as our shooting date approached, citing royalty demands incompatible with our limited budget. However, one artist graciously contributed, notably enhancing the film with her rendition of the dove and additional pieces, for which we remain deeply appreciative.

Another obstacle emerged with the location; two weeks prior to shooting, our initial venue fell through, resulting in significant stress. Swiftly, we turned to rental options, ultimately securing a suitable replacement. Despite this last-minute scramble, a lack of prior footage of the property left me improvising the set design on-site. We prioritised essential props outlined in the script, while I improvised the layout during an additional evening booking to ensure ample time for setup and shooting. Despite the challenges, the eventual outcome proved satisfactory, albeit marking my first experience designing a set on the fly. However, my intimate familiarity with the story and character enabled me to intuitively craft a setting reflective of the narrative, a decision I believe ultimately paid dividends.
